1-day online course with James Egerton
June 6

The essence of CELTA
Effective continuous professional development should shift between uphill effort and downhill joy, thunder and sunshine, but should stay engaging, positive and forward-moving. "Thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder, I was caught in the middle of a railroad track' (Thunderstruck, AC/DC) Unfortunately, the intensity and pressure of a full CELTA course means that it can often feel like being stuck in a month-long thunderstorm with AC/DC's classic as constant background music.

This one-day methodology course, therefore, is designed as both a refresher without pressure for CELTA course veterans and a taster for teachers who took another route and may be curious to see teacher training from the CELTA perspective.

We'll keep the thunder away and the sun out: the warming and fulfilling experience of outstanding teacher training is our overall objective.

We'll combine interactive, practical sessions on key aspects of skills and systems lessons with plenty of takeaway ideas for both the classroom and the Zoom room.

Feedback of previous courses participants
  • James was a truly skilled and knowledgeable CELTA tutor, his input sessions were always very well organized, clear and - most importantly - lots of fun! He managed to stimulate and challenge us with creating authentic lesson materials, bringing life into our teaching practice. His feedback to trainees was also very accurate and fair, he always backed up everything he pointed out with evidence. I must say that having such an experienced and competent CELTA tutor who could also think out of the box and encourage/motivate us to constantly improve was fantastic!
Ilaria, March 2020 (face-to-face/online blended CELTA)
  • With his friendly, energetic and engaging attitude, James is a passionate and enthusiastic tutor who has been incredibly supportive throughout the CELTA course. His empathy allows him to deeply understand the strengths and weaknesses of his trainees and thanks to a very detailed and constructive feedback provided for each TP, he constantly motivates them to believe in themselves and do their best.
Sara, June 2020 (100% online CELTA)
  • James was one of the many great trainers on our course. I felt very lucky to be taught by such people. He gave feedback and tips in a way that were concise and really helpful for growth. Whilst at the same time being professional and good fun. The course itself can sometimes feel daunting, yet he made you feel engaged and positive. Top man, James!
Rob, June 2020 (100% online CELTA)
  • James made everybody on the course fell at ease and even the most challenging tasks were tackled with a professional and confident attitude, thus resulting in creating a positive and motivating relationship between trainer and trainees
