Riding the spectrum of abstraction: Unlocking creative connections and higher-order thinking at the lesson
Eugene Lichkin
When creating a lesson, it is always a good idea to put all its content into perspective. Everything is a part of something bigger - so why don't we find and use these unexpected interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, time-space connections as a starting point for new ideas, projects and discoveries? We are going to discuss one simple, yet powerful tool that will naturally unlock endless opportunities for really interesting ways of thinking!

Your learner as a resource
Dasha Fedorova
Have you ever run out of resources for your teaching? What if I told you that you've got an unlimited resource right in front of you? And all you need is a little bit of collaboration with your learners? In my talk I'm going to show you how I use my students' stories for their own good, what I do to turn small talk into grammar and vocabulary exercises and prove that feedback is not only about correcting your learners' errors.

Extra instruction to the rescue – boosting creativity by adding "obstacles"
Alexey Lebedev
Do you want your students to collaborate more with each other? Do you want to boost their creativity? Try to add one more instruction to the common tasks, such as "Find someone who", "Fill in the questionnaire", "Two truths – one lie", etc. Even though these activities already seem really entertaining and engaging (and they are), but why not spice them up a bit and make your students' focus on tasks a bit better? In my talk I will share the tricks that I use to turn tasks into something quite unusual and show how you can word them better and even introduce them in a more creative way.

Your board work says a lot about how you teach
Anita Modestova
This talk is not about layouts or beautiful handwriting. Surprise-surprise, it's about critical thinking for... teachers. When we speak about the 4Cs for the 21st century we normally focus on the students, but let's talk about teachers, our teaching beliefs, methods, and principles. It's all reflected in our board work. Anita will reflect on the notes from her lessons over the past 3 years since she started teaching lexically. Based on her personal experience, Anita will show how even the little changes you make in your teaching, change the way your students communicate with each other

Pride, prejudice, publicity and genius. Helping teenagers develop 4C soft skills through a sketchbook project
Katerina Panfilova
The academic year lasts 4 months only: in May come all the final tests and June is for exams. For years, schoolchildren have been developing their hard skills massively. This is how the educational system works. Yet, the modern world demands soft skills. What can a state school teacher do to help their students through the hardships of the last year of school and at the same time enhance their soft skills? Actually, a lot. In this talk you will learn about a creative project that enabled students to master their 4C skills, why it worked and what kind of outcomes it brought about for all the participants.

How to Metaphorize Grammar: the 21st Century Way
Amr Khamis
Teaching Grammar is always a challenge, especially when it comes to young learners. I have been searching for a creative, unusual and engaging method, and I have found that metaphorizing grammar rules helps learners to understand and apply them by building associations in their mind. In the talk we'll discuss practical ideas for your classroom, so grammar will never be a hustle, neither for you nor your students.

First Aid Kit of Soft Skills in the Russian State Exam, or Myth-Busting of EGE Perfection
Lisa Varaksa
The Russian State Exam (EGE) is believed to be clichéd, challenging, demanding and ... perfect. Well, nobody is perfect. However, the students are quite terrified of it and often want to know what to expect. After they have taken grammar on board, it is time to teach them how to play the part – how to act in the exam, which soft skills to use or not to use. In my talk I will share my experience of taking the exam as a teacher, both the highs and lows.
