Many teachers complain that their students are reluctant to speak in class. "Let's discuss" activities never work well for them. One of the approaches you might use to help students to participate in class discussions more actively is facilitation. Facilitation is a system of tools, techniques, and skills to help a group of people work well in making decisions and achieving their goals.To facilitate groups the facilitator must learn a set of techniques that over time will be part of their work "toolbox." In my talk I'd like to describe some of these techniques and try them with the participants.

Teaching yl&teens is challenging because of the energy loss and constant alertness. Modern teachers are always ready: unexpected things might happen. Moreover, multi-tasking has become part of our lives. How can we find our source of energy in between the classes, when there's not much time? We'll talk about simple techniques and massive theory behind them.

Comics are everywhere these days! Our theaters, our devices and even our closets… While students (especially the TEENS!) may be well-versed in comic books and popular culture, classroom implementation is dependent on teacher familiarity with and literacy in comic books and culture. This workshop aims to discuss the value of comics for the classroom and analyze comics elements, such as captions and panels, in relation to teaching the four language skills. We will also look at tools and resources available for educators to introduce and explore comics with learners.

I would like to share my experience about hybrid learning within Trendy English conference. The hybrid lesson is a kind of a lesson when some of the students are in the classroom offline with a teacher, and some of them join the same lesson online. The alphabetic code gives us a great deal of information about English sound-spelling relationships and is an excellent tool for teaching pronunciation and literacy skills in EFL. Karen explains the code and other key aspects of synthetic phonics, providing resources and activities which teachers can use with their infants and primary students, including some for use in an online classroom setting.

I'm going to give some practical tips and solutions to help teachers provide physical activities online, how to grab their attention and make them glued to their screens. I'll show how to give young students opportinities to move like in offline classroom and study online effectively at the same time.

The challenge of teaching young children EFL online lies in the fact that it is more difficult to retain their attention without the usual personal interaction. This presentation will suggest multisensory language teaching strategies which aim to make it possible to engage Young Learners effectively even when they are located remotely. I will focus on step-by-step lesson planning using multisensory strategies with practical examples that can integrate Letterland's unique, child-friendly methodology with online teaching practices and resources.

This short talk demonstrates different ways to deal with learner language such as explicit reformulation, teacher clarification/confirmation request, elicitation and etc during interactions with learners These strategies have been developed from a presenter's teaching experience and can be easily implemented.

Even though Zoom is currently the most popular online teaching platform, many teachers still struggle to embrace its potential. One of the most underestimated in-built functions is the whiteboard. Since it is a digital tool, it provides unlimited ways of classroom application in order to cut preparation time and increase students' engagement in the learning process.

In this workshop, the attendees will learn how use the features of whiteboard in order to do:
- concise graphic topic explanations;
- infographics and statistics;
- interactive activities;
- modeling the task;
- supporting the student during online learning.

I am interested in CLIL method and always glad to share my knowledge and experience in it. I would like to tell about 4 steps how to prepare a CLIL lesson for your students. These steps will help you integrate CLIL into your lessons without spending too much time on creating them.

In the 4 years I've been living in Russia most of the studets that have come to me, are afraid of speaking and those who are not, do not have the skills to do it. Sometimes or most of the times teachers (or the systen they use) focus primarily on grammatical structues, vocabulary and repetition of made-senteces. The truth is that we learn our first language by speaking and not by learning the rule. In this conference I'll give some tools you can employ to boost the conversational skills during your lessons.

WhatsApp is an immensely popular, simple and versatile messaging app. While some schools keep excluding mobile phones from the classroom, others successfully use WhatsApp as a teaching tool. It may seem strange to encourage students to spend more time looking at their phones in class, but there are numerous advantages of using this application. I would be pleased to share them during my talk!

At the talk we will be looking at the effective way of the first diagnostic session with adults with some elements of Neurolanguage coaching. By the end of the talk the participants will have taken away a clear algorithm of the successful session which will allow them to diagnose the strenghts and weaenesses of the student, hep them find motivation, as well as make a plan for the next lessons and find out the approaches/methods which will work with this particular student.

Are we really in the era of communication? What can we language teachers do to give learners the tools necessary to excel at personal and professional communication? In this workshop, we are going to train to apply Dan Shapiro's BRAVE Framework to ELT sessions. Our students are going to reach a totally new level of language expertise and communication dexterity. You are going to be able to apply the strategies and activities from the workshop readily in your own sessions.

As the exam draws near, many exam CAE, CPE, EGE or IELTS candidates lose confidence. Their most common fears? Not being able to produce two pieces of writing within the time limit and doubting whether they have grasped the writing criteria. In my talk, I'm going to propose a solution called the Writing Clinic. It is a frame, a lesson plan and a tool that has contributed to improving the CAE writing results of over 100 students at the Polina Kordik School.

Sometimes we can feel really stuck with a topic and coming up with discussions for speaking classes/clubs. I'd like to share some tips and secrets where to find ideas; how to make a speaking class using just a several question from a unit in a course book: and how to not spend an entire day preparing for the class.

In this practical session we will examine how short films and videos can be used to raise awareness of social issues and values in the language classroom. We'll explore a number of practical, generic activities which foster both oral and written communication as well as vocabulary acquisition. Teachers will go away from the session with a better understanding of how to use short films and videos to promote social justice and a number of tried and tested activities to use with short films and videos.

Whether English teachers need to use vocabulary or grammar as a basis of their instruction has been a hot topic of discussion in the ELT community for the past decade. And the grammar-based approach is usually considered outdated and associated with school-like teaching. However, adult students often prefer grammar structures to be delivered to them explicitly. That's why in my presentation, I'm going to talk about how to utilize the aspects of the grammar-based approach freshly and productively while teaching adult students and not to be branded as boring or old-fashioned.

In 2020-2021 teachers faced a lot of hardships. But the year 2022 has something new in store: an updated version of the Russian State exam. Are the changes for the better? We'll see later. However, for the time being we need to do our best to master this new format of writing and speaking tasks. In this workshop, the participants will discuss the peculiarities of the new tasks. We will talk about the strategies of effective lesson planning for exam classes and try out several activities that work in practice.

Our coursebooks are full of rich texts but for various reasons, they are under-exploited in the coursebook itself. This pill is my talk where you will grasp the main digital resources for the positive use in the ESL Classroom without the preparation. I really mean it that you can take them and make the most of your classroom. Today's apps, though, have many features but are some of them a blessing or a curse?

We will take a look at how your pronunciation influences your fluency and how lack of phonetic knowledge and skills creates hurdles on your way to a more natural speech, makes your stumble and pauses when it could be avoided. We will come to grips with some features of connected speech and see how it may impact your listening skills and those of your students.
